Do you love God?

Dear Reader,
Your answer to the above question, like every other person would most likely be YES, I DO!

But here is another question you might want to consider before answering the first.

WHAT IS THE PROOF OF YOUR LOVE?

The proof of our love for God goes beyond shouting, screaming, or jumping in church. This is because mere church attendance cannot be used as a yardstick to measure people’s love for God.

What then is the true proof of Love?

Love can be SEEN [Mark 12:30] and Love is in two dimensions: God-Ward and Man-Ward.

The God-Ward love is vertical. It is our love towards God. And the reason why it’s possible to love God is that He first loved us. There is no doubt about the reality of God’s love for men [John 3:16].

Man-Ward on the other hand is horizontal. It is our love towards other men [1 John 3:15].

Let’s take a closer look at the God-Ward Dimension of Love.

We all have what it takes to love God through the Holy Ghost in us [Romans 5:5]. But, there are two kinds of love toward God namely: Basic and Advanced love.

Basic love is the kind any and every believer can have towards God. While Advanced love on the other hand is the kind that will cost you everything.

These are the true parameters or proof of love [1 John 3:16].
You must love God with all your
– Heart
– Soul
– Mind and
– Strength.

Loving God with all your Heart talks about Passion, the Soul talks about Pleasure, the Mind talks about our Intellect while Strength refers to loving God with all our Might.

All these were seen in the life of David [Psalm 63:8]. They are found under the advanced kind of love toward God.

It is important to know as was stated earlier that love can be SEEN, and love should take a permanent posture. People around us should know that we genuinely love God.

Passion can not be hidden! We can have passion for God when we have His fire in us. In our love for God, we will find pleasure in staying in His presence. In our love for God, we would be committed to doing His things where He can find us faithful and depend on us.

Above all, the proof of our love for God is SACRIFICE. Every genuine love is sacrificial.
If you love God, you’ll sacrifice your time, energy, resources, intellectual prowess, influence and your all for Him.

Dear Reader, God’s desire for you is that you’ll move from the basic love to the advanced one where you’ll truly love Him with you ALL.
